West Point School of Music is thankful for its fantastic supporters.
West Point School of Music provides musical instruction to disadvantaged youth in some of Chicago’s toughest south and west side neighborhoods. We offer these youth a life-changing alternative to the violence and despair they witness daily in the form of gangs, crime, and drugs. Through music, our students can dream of a brighter future and have hope for a better tomorrow.
The musician is constantly adjusting decisions on tempo, tone, style, rhythm, phrasing, and feeling – training the brain to become incredibly good at organizing and conducting numerous activities at once. Dedicated practice of this orchestration can have a great payoff for lifelong attention skills, intelligence, and an ability for self-knowledge and expression. — Dr. John J. Ratey, MD
